2023 Joint Priorities

Access Interpret-ation & Education

  • Continue support of transportation initiatives that increase access to parks
  • Elevate DPR program visibility through storytelling and communications, including an emphasis on Statewide Park Program and partnerships with Tribal Nations
  • Make parks relevant to a wider constituency by encouraging a diversity of voices to tell the stories that occurred on California’s treasured landscapes
  • Broaden financial support of park connection programs such as Climate Literacy, Junior Lifeguards, and PORTS
  • Engage underrepresented communities in park planning and programming opportunities

Climate Resilient Landscape-Scale Stewardship

  • Strengthen the capacity of regional partnerships and State Parks to collaboratively advance cross-boundary resource stewardship opportunities at scale
  • Equip State Park leaders and staff with the planning tools and training needed to effectively manage resource challenges
  • Demonstrate innovative & replicable approaches for stewarding climate resilient parks

  • Boost park capital improvement and adaptive reuse strategies
  • Advance the development of park low-cost accommodation options
  • Job training and skills development to create pathways for future employees representative of California’s diverse communities
  • Provide support services to DPR initiatives that increase statewide park acreage to advance access, landscape connectivity, and 30X30 goals
